Cambodia
One of the major public health problems in Cambodia is Tuberculosis. Cambodia has reported one of the higher treatment success rates in the WHO Western Pacific Region (WPRO) during the last decade (Tuberculosis Control, Stop TB: WHO report 2007). The case detection rate of new smear positive increased from 40% in 1995 up to 68% in 2005 then dropped down to 62% in 2006. The use of community members to refer suspects for diagnosis, to observe treatment, and collaboration with the private sectors, aim to improve case finding and maintain cure rate toward reaching the ‘70/85’ targets.
